Velma & the Mysteries of the Abandoned Asylum
I am beyond excited to share the story of my epic Velma cosplay photoshoot with you all! ๐ธ๐ But hold on to your magnifying glass, because this adventure took a twist into the world of an eerie abandoned haunted mental hospital! ๐ฑ๐
First things first, let me introduce you to my amazing collaborator, Chris Renaud. We had been planning this shoot for what felt like an eternity, eagerly waiting for the stars (and the weather) to align. Fun fact: Chris was actually one of the first cosplay photographers I ever had a zoom meeting with, even before I had any cosplays ready! Talk about dedication, right? ๐
So, after 8 months of anticipation, the day finally arrived. But guess what? Mother Nature played a little prank on us and decided to shower us with raindrops. But hey, nothing can dampen our spirits when we're on a mission to solve a spooky mystery, right? ๐ง๏ธ๐
We made the courageous decision to go ahead with the shoot, despite the unpredictable weather. And guess who tagged along as our trusty sidekick assistant? Chris's daughter, named after none other than Daphne herself! ๐๐จ๐ต๏ธโโ๏ธ
As we arrived at the location, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and unease. This place had an undeniable creepy vibe, and I questioned if I had the guts to explore its mysteries. But you know what they say, "The best adventures often start with a little fear." ๐ฌ
And there was definitely some moments that gave me the heebie jeebies. Like this one moment when Chris asked me to โlook back and strike a poseโ. And as I did, I spotted some graffiti on a decaying stone column that sent shivers down my spine: "Run, don't look back." Trust me, my heart skipped a beat! But hey, we cosplayers are brave souls, right? ๐ โจ
Despite the goosebumps-inducing atmosphere, the location was undeniably cool. In fact, I couldn't help but imagine it as the perfect setting for a "The Last of Us" cosplay if I ever decide to bring Ellie to life. Talk about making the most out of a spooky situation! ๐งโโ๏ธ๐ฎ
Any who, now let's talk about Chris's photography style. He brought such a refreshing approach to the shoot, encouraging lots of movement and capturing those candid moments that bring a cosplay to life. It was a welcome change from the more posed and precise shoots I've done in the past. Variety is the spice of cosplay, after all! (But truthfully I donโt have a preference, both are fun styles to shoot).๐ท๐
And the best part? Chris worked his magic behind the scenes and delivered the edited photos faster than Shaggy can devour a Scooby Snack! ๐โโ๏ธ๐ช I couldn't believe how quickly I had some incredible shots to share with all of you.
So, without further ado, I present to you the result of our Velma cosplay adventure at a creepy abandoned asylum.
